Oh, that this region of Egyptian darkness may ere long participate in the vivifying beams of light! — Adoniram Judson (1788-1850) died when Queen Victoria was still young and bearing children. Such a little prayer he expressed in those few short words so long ago, but God was listening. Not too many decades after Judson passed on, God was providentially making a way to send a young lady to that “region of Egyptian darkness” to help bring the “vivifying beams of light. ” In a 1935 Pentecostal Evangel article, celebrated the twenty-fifth anniversary of her arrival in Egypt. She testified of God’s provision for the Assiout Orphanage, which she founded in 1911: (He has never failed me all these years and we are being fed like the sparrows, who have no barns or storerooms. Seven hundred little ones. We are still looking to the Lord for our hourly needs. O He is such a wonderful Saviour)”
“في مقال عن الإنجيلية الخمسينية (ليليان تراشر) سنة 1935 ، في الذكرى السنوية الخامسة والعشرين لوصولها إلى مصر. شهدت على رعاية الله لدار الأيتام في أسيوط ، الذي أسسته في عام 1911: (لم يسبق لي أن فشلت في حياتي طوال هذه السنوات ، ونحن نتغذى مثل العصافير ، الذين ليس لديهم حظائر أو مخازن. سبع مئة طفل صغير. نحن لا نزال نتطلع إلى الرب لاحتياجاتنا كل ساعة ياله من مخلص عجيب! ) “

” Trasher’s legacy remains as a woman who cared for thousands of widows and children who resolved to trust in God knowing that He cares for the outcasts. She exhibited love, compassion, courage, perseverance, obedience, and faith working at the orphanage without a day off as well as advocating for children until the time of her death in December 17, 1961. Her orphanage remains open today. It is a reminder of a woman who shared the message of Christ wherever she went even through the hardest of times.”
